Review 10/26/2007
Their only priority is to get you in, get your money and then get your friends/family numbers so they can get their money. I have been wearing contacts for 15+ years. I go in last November to get a check-up and renew my prescription and after they finish, they give me one pair of contacts and tell me they won't give me the actual prescription till I come back in a week so they can see if the contacts fit. I explain to them that I already had to take time off of work to come in the first time and that I can't take more time off to come in again. Besides, I would know if the contacts didn't fit right I don't need someone looking in my eye to tell me the red and soreness is from ill fitting contacts. They say it's policy and end the conversation asking if I had any relatives I would like them to contact for exams. Now it's February, and the holidays are over along with my second job, and I finally have time to go in again, and this time they tell me that since I wasn't able to come in the second time in November I now have to come in again a week later to see if the pair they give me to try and wear fits. I try and tell them that the last pair fit, and the pair they just gave me also fits fine, can I just get my prescription, and they give me the same run around. I ask to speak to the doctor and they tell me he's gone for the day and if I want they can ask him to release the prescription tomorrow. On my way out of the store I am asked again if I have any friends or relatives that they should call to offer eye exams or glasses, not by one person but by two people now. The next day they 'allow' me to buy a box of contacts, but the doctor is not available to release the prescription, I will have to try later. They ask me again for phone numbers of people they can call to offer exams to, again I tell them NO. I give up and forget about it till yesterday, October 25th. I called and asked for a copy of my prescription to be faxed to me, it only takes 4 phone calls, each time I call they greet with "When can I schedule an appointment for you"- No hello or how may I help you. Obviously their priority is in getting you scheduled to meet a quota rather than customer service. And each time they ask for phone numbers of people I know to schedule them for a exam before they put me on hold to look up my information. I talk to Richard, who forgets and never faxes it. I talk to Andy who says he will fax it right away, and it never comes. I talk to another person and their manager, Diana(?) twice and they finally fax me my eye glass prescription and a contact exam form. Apparently they don't know what a contact lens prescription looks like. I call and ask them, and they tell me that the form is the prescription that's why the doctor signed it. Since I never got a prescription from them before I accept it and take it to Costco, since Costco has the lowest prices and people behind the counter who are actually there to help you. (I am never going to Lenscrafters again. Only Costco from now on for exams, prescriptions and orders.) There Costco tells me that they can't fill the prescription, because the form is not a prescription. She shows me what one of Lenscrafters prescriptions really looks like (she said they sell a lot of contacts to Lenscrafters customers for similar reasons.) I call Lenscrafters again and finally get a manager who tells me that the doctor never released my original prescription and that I can either come in for another exam or wait till tomorrow and maybe the doctor will release it then. Today I finally got a copy of the released prescription. Only they limit me to 2 boxes and it's only good for 3 weeks. Thank you Lenscrafters, for finally letting me get the contacts prescription I paid for almost a year ago. Thank you for making in me call over and over and realize how horrid your customer service people are. Thank you for showing me that regardless of any vision plan my employer may have that gives me a minimal discount with you, I should still pay full price at Coscto and get my eyes taken care of there or any where else but one of your stores. Maybe other people have had a better experience, but no one will ever convince me that you have my best interest or eye health in mind, or that you are nothing but a corporate model for horrible service and swindling doctors. An NO I will not give you phone numbers to my friends, family or co-workers- but I will tell them what a horrible experience I had.
